HAAUS Bustamante: the inhabitable curve

HAAUS Bustamante introduces a more fluid geometry into the compact urban fabric of Buenos Aires, at the corner of Las Heras Avenue and Sánchez de Bustamante.

The building rises fifteen storeys between Palermo, Barrio Norte and Recoleta. Its identity does not depend on a single gesture, but on repetition: a succession of concrete perimeter balconies that curve, advance and recede around the façade. These horizontal lines soften the scale of the volume and turn the corner into a continuous movement.

Our art direction begins with this condition to construct a complete visual narrative: The inhabitable curve.

We did not want to represent the building solely as an object observed from the street. We wanted to move through it: to begin in the city, approach the entrance, cross the communal spaces and arrive at the most private moments of a home.

The sequence begins with the urban gesture. From a distance, the balconies form a recognisable silhouette among the tree canopies and neighbouring buildings. The architecture appears integrated into the everyday life of the avenue: traffic, pedestrians, shade and movement. It is not an isolated object, but a new layer within a city that was already there.

As we move closer, the scale changes. Concrete ceases to be an abstract line and acquires weight. The cantilevers shelter the entrance, glass reflects the street vegetation and timber slats introduce a more domestic transition. Arrival is understood as a gradual threshold between public space and privacy.

Inside, the curve is no longer perceived only from the exterior. The balconies extend the homes and guide the eye towards Buenos Aires. The relationship between inside and outside is built through layers: dark stone, timber, glass, curtains, vegetation and city.

The one- and two-room apartments are presented as compact yet open spaces. Continuous flooring, carefully scaled furniture and natural light broaden the perception of space without concealing its true proportions. The living room, bedroom and bathroom share a calm material language of warm timber, mineral surfaces, dark metal and neutral textiles.

Human presence emerges through small traces rather than staged scenes. A chair slightly out of place. An open book. A cup that is still warm. A curtain stirred by air from the terrace. Architecture is not an empty stage, but the quiet support for a life that continues beyond the frame.

The story concludes as night falls. Seen through the trees and the movement of the avenue, the façade loses its monumental character. Only a few homes remain illuminated. The curves then read as lines suspended in the darkness, and the building becomes a quiet presence within the city.

The inhabitable curve reads the project through three scales: the city, the architecture and everyday life. A journey from the façade’s most recognisable gesture to the details that allow a space to feel like one’s own.

In HAAUS Bustamante, architectural visualisation organises every frame as part of a sequence rather than as an isolated image. The exterior views establish the relationship with the avenue, vegetation and urban scale; the interiors continue the narrative through light, texture and the discreet presence of those who inhabit the building.

This continuity allows the balconies, entrances, communal spaces and homes to share a single visual identity. The aim is not to exaggerate the architecture, but to make its character legible: the curve as the organising element, concrete as a constant material and everyday life as the measure of scale. The art direction balances architectural precision and atmosphere to communicate the project to future residents, commercial teams and collaborators without turning it into a generic scene.
