PROJECT STORY
The Breathing House · Setouchi
The Breathing House introduces a lightweight technical-linen canopy above the earthen architecture of NOT A HOTEL Setouchi. Visually detached from the walls, the textile records every shift in the wind, making the house appear to inhale and exhale with Sagishima’s landscape.
The intervention avoids a technological image. Rammed earth, raw timber, woven fibres, condensation, and minor deformation replace digital perfection with a tactile experience. The roof collects dew and rain; its edges carry moisture marks, while its junctions reveal the work of makers and builders.
The camera stays close: a warm ceramic cup, a displaced curtain, a joint between earth and timber, or the sea glimpsed between two planes. The series proposes a form of hospitality and luxury residential visualization based on intimacy, materiality, and climate rather than display.
Reference architecture: NOT A HOTEL Setouchi by BIG. Independent conceptual intervention by NoName Architecture; art direction and visualization by JVA Renders.
Independent, uncommissioned conceptual study. It is not part of the official NOT A HOTEL project and does not imply a professional relationship with its architects or operator.
